My Concealer Hacks!

When concealing a pimple, first use a green concealer, then cover the area with a concealer that matches your skin tone perfectly. Cancel out a pimple’s redness by applying green concealer with a clean brush to only the pimple (not the skin around it) to avoid spreading the bacteria. Then, use a cotton swab to dab on a high-coverage liquid concealer that matches your skin tone to camouflage the pimple. Blend it into the surrounding skin and finish with setting powder.

If you find yourself without concealer, place a small dot of liquid foundation on the area, wait a few minutes for the formula to set, and then lightly blend it out. The trick is to wait until the foundation dries and thickens a bit (it will eventually reach the consistency of concealer) before trying to blend it. If you blend it too soon, the foundation will be sheer and rub off, leaving you with very little coverage.

Know what issues different colors of concealer fix. Peach shades cancel out blue circles or bruising, green hide red blemishes, and yellow-toned concealers correct almost all uneven skin tones.

Make your lipstick pop and prevent the color from bleeding by lining the outside of your lips with a fine-tip brush and a bit of concealer. You’ll be amazed at how sharp your lips will look afterward.

Find the Perfect Foundation for you!

THE Trick To Finding Your Perfect Foundation Shade!

Finding the Perfect Founation Beauty by Teresa copy

Looking for the right foundation is more than just matching the shade to your complexion on your jawline. You have to know your skin’s undertone color in order to pick the right colors for you. Here’s how to find yours:

1.  Cool Undertone: Look at your wrists. If you have a cool undertone, the veins on your wrist are mostly blue and purple. You have pink hues and you tend to look better in silver jewelry than gold jewelry. You want to look for a foundation that has a rose/red or blue base.

2.  Warm Undertone: If you have a warm undertone, the veins on your wrists appear green and you have yellow/gold/peach hues. You look better in gold jewelry than silver jewelry. You want to look for a foundation with a yellow or gold base.

3.  Neutral Undertone: If you have a neutral undertone, your wrists are a mix of greens, purples, and blues. You have a mix of golden and pinkish hues and you look good in both gold and silver jewelry. You can wear either a warm undertone foundation or a cool undertone foundation. You can let the season decide for your shade, if it’s summer and you have a slight tan, go for a warm undertone foundation. You can also let the shade of your skin decide what tone of foundation to wear.

How To Correct Dark Under Eye Circles!

The trick is to cover up the dark circles correctly before you conceal.

Getting rid of dark under eye circles teresa song makesup aritst

1.  Hydrate! Before applying foundation or concealer, make sure the under eye ear is fully hydrated with a good moisturizer or eye cream. The makes sure that the concealer will fully blend.

2.  Apply a peach/orange concealer under the eye. Color theory! The opposite color of blue (usually the shade under our eyes) on the color wheel is orange. Therefore, they cancel each other out. Make sure you blend out with your finger.

3.  Go light in color. Use a concealer shade that’s a shade or two lighter than your skin tone. This will make your eyes appear much brighter.

4.  Blend all over your eye. Most people neglect to apply concealer all over the eye area, from the ocular bone to the inner corner of the eye. This is essential in maximizing the coverage of dark eyes.

5.  Apply your foundation after concealing. Make sure you apply translucent powder underneath your eye so you don’t darken the area you just lightened.

Eyebrow Mistakes to Avoid

Eyebrows can be tricky, you don’t want to make mistakes that are not reversible.

Here are some major eyebrow mistakes you don’t want to make!

Eyebrow Tips Teresa Song Makeup Artist
1.  Overplucking! Plucking too much interferes with hair growth cycle. It can cause your eyebrows to stop growing.

2.  Overplucking your unibrow! A larger space between the eyes gives the illusion of a bigger nose and wider set eyes. The beginning of your brows should line up with the outer bridge of your nose, not the edge of your nostril.

3.  Overarching! Gives you a perpetually surprised look. Find your eyebrow’s natural arch by finding your eyebrow’s highest point and use that as a guide to create your arch.

4.  Forgetting the top! Tweezing below the eyebrow will give a nice lift, but don’t forget to clean up the top! Keep the above-brow area free of any stray hairs!

5.  Over Darkening! Just a few strokes of an eyebrow pencil or as eyebrow filler will give you defined eyebrows. Eyebrows that are too dark look fake and dramatic. Use light feathery strokes. You want to shadow, not draw. It’s best to use a color 1 shade lighter than your natural color.

Makeup Tips When Wearing Glasses

Fun styles of glasses are very trendy right now.  But, it can be spoiled if you don’t apply your eye makeup correctly to accent the look.

Here are my top six tips on how to wear makeup with glasses.

How to Wear Makeup with Glasses Teresa Song California Makeup Artist
1.  Use a deep color eyeliner. Pick colors such as navy or plum, instead of black eyeliner. These colors will help brighten your eyes. You could even add a little bit of sparkle. These colors are bold enough while giving you a trendy look.

2.  Use more neutral eye shadow colors. This will help to keep your eyes from looking heavy in glasses. Your glasses is an added frame to your face, you don’t want to overpower your eye area.

3.  Use concealer! You want brighten up your under eye area, especially when wearing glasses. They can magnify your dark circles and make them more obvious.

4.  Make sure you shape and fill in your eyebrows! Although your glasses make cover your eyebrows, you still want to fill them in because they will frame your glasses, as well as your face.

5.  Try a bold eyeliner. Eyeliners are great because they can change the shape of your eye, especially a bold cat eye. Keep the intensity near the lash line, this will help your eyes stand out within your glasses. This is especially fun when one is wearing frameless glasses.

6.  Go for a bold lip! Balance is key here. If you wearing a pair of statement glasses, play it up with a bold lip color.

How to Get the Perfect Wing Eyeliner

How to get the Perfect Wing Eyeliner Dramatic wing eyeliner is the perfect eye makeup for the holidays. Your outfit is not complete without the makeup to match.

Perfecting the look might be tricky to master however, here are some simple tips to help you create the alluring and sultry look of wing eyeliner.

Dramatic Wing Eyeline Beauty By Teresa California Makeup Artist

1) Apply pencil eyeliner. Start by applying pencil eyeliner to your upper lash line. Try to make the line as thin as possible. Start at the inner corner and with making small strokes complete the line to the outer corner.

2) Measure for perfection. Using your pencil, hold it at the end point of the bottom lash line. Point the pencil at a diagonal upward so it almost looks like a continuation of your lower lash line.

Tip: If you have a hooded eyelid, you will need to angle your wing more outward than upward to help to avoid the hooded part of your lid.

3) Draw your wing. Using the guided line your just visualized with your pencil draw your wing line. I should be about a 45 degree angle and towards your eyebrow. When completed it should look like an extension of your lower lash line.

4) Find the middle of your eye. Draw a straight line from the tip of your wing to the middle of your eyelid.

5) Fill in your line. Using your pencil fill in the line you just created from the line to your eyelashes. Make sure to fill in that entire area.

6) Complete the look. Thicken the line at the inner eyelid to make it appear as though the wing is gradually getting thinner naturally. Fill in with your pencil if needed, again using short strokes.

Your dramatic wing eyeliner is now complete!

Get the Holiday Makeup Look You Want

Dark Lip and Sultry Eyes

Here is a step by step guide on how to get the perfect holiday look with dark lips and sultry eyes.

Holiday Look California Hair and Makeup Artist Beauty by Teresa

How to get the Perfect Dark Lip!

Step 1: Line your lips. It is essential to use a lip liner outside the lips. Use a mauve, nude or berry shape that is either matte or a semi-matte finish. Start by lining the lip.

Step 2: Grow your lips. Then slowly grow the line just above your first line to have a natural line yet at the same time making your lips look larger and fuller.

Step 3:   Fill in your lips. When you finish lining, fill the inside of your lips with the pencil or a lipstick of the same shade.

How to get Sultry Eyes!

Step 1: Create a nude canvas. Create a wet look by using a blending brush, swirl creamy concealer over the lids all the way to the brow.

Step 2: Fake the wet look. From there put on some cream protectant on the lid to fully achieve the wet look.

Step 3: Fully line your eyes. Line them on the outer and inner rims with a creamy black pencil liner.

Step 4: Fill in your lids from lash line to crease. Fill in your lids from lash line to crease using the same black liner you used previously.

Step 5: Make sure you eye doesn’t look flat. To do that, add some gray liner to your eye. Start where the black liner ends at the inner corner of your inner eye, add some gray eyeliner at the inner “V,” and then blend it with the black liner to create dimension.
