Hey ladies! So apparently colored bobby pins are back in style! I found these cool hairstyles with color bobby pins while browsing through Instagram!

A bobby pin’s sole job is to hold your hairstyle together, but lately, they’ve been working overtime, serving as your strands’ must-have accessories.

My Concealer Hacks!

When concealing a pimple, first use a green concealer, then cover the area with a concealer that matches your skin tone perfectly. Cancel out a pimple’s redness by applying green concealer with a clean brush to only the pimple (not the skin around it) to avoid spreading the bacteria. Then, use a cotton swab to dab on a high-coverage liquid concealer that matches your skin tone to camouflage the pimple. Blend it into the surrounding skin and finish with setting powder.

If you find yourself without concealer, place a small dot of liquid foundation on the area, wait a few minutes for the formula to set, and then lightly blend it out. The trick is to wait until the foundation dries and thickens a bit (it will eventually reach the consistency of concealer) before trying to blend it. If you blend it too soon, the foundation will be sheer and rub off, leaving you with very little coverage.

Know what issues different colors of concealer fix. Peach shades cancel out blue circles or bruising, green hide red blemishes, and yellow-toned concealers correct almost all uneven skin tones.

Make your lipstick pop and prevent the color from bleeding by lining the outside of your lips with a fine-tip brush and a bit of concealer. You’ll be amazed at how sharp your lips will look afterward.

Find the Perfect Foundation for you!

THE Trick To Finding Your Perfect Foundation Shade!

Finding the Perfect Founation Beauty by Teresa copy

Looking for the right foundation is more than just matching the shade to your complexion on your jawline. You have to know your skin’s undertone color in order to pick the right colors for you. Here’s how to find yours:

1.  Cool Undertone: Look at your wrists. If you have a cool undertone, the veins on your wrist are mostly blue and purple. You have pink hues and you tend to look better in silver jewelry than gold jewelry. You want to look for a foundation that has a rose/red or blue base.

2.  Warm Undertone: If you have a warm undertone, the veins on your wrists appear green and you have yellow/gold/peach hues. You look better in gold jewelry than silver jewelry. You want to look for a foundation with a yellow or gold base.

3.  Neutral Undertone: If you have a neutral undertone, your wrists are a mix of greens, purples, and blues. You have a mix of golden and pinkish hues and you look good in both gold and silver jewelry. You can wear either a warm undertone foundation or a cool undertone foundation. You can let the season decide for your shade, if it’s summer and you have a slight tan, go for a warm undertone foundation. You can also let the shade of your skin decide what tone of foundation to wear.

Not sure what complexion your are? Contact Teresa to help you find your perfect foundation.

How To Correct Dark Under Eye Circles!

The trick is to cover up the dark circles correctly before you conceal.

Getting rid of dark under eye circles teresa song makesup aritst

1.  Hydrate! Before applying foundation or concealer, make sure the under eye ear is fully hydrated with a good moisturizer or eye cream. The makes sure that the concealer will fully blend.

2.  Apply a peach/orange concealer under the eye. Color theory! The opposite color of blue (usually the shade under our eyes) on the color wheel is orange. Therefore, they cancel each other out. Make sure you blend out with your finger.

3.  Go light in color. Use a concealer shade that’s a shade or two lighter than your skin tone. This will make your eyes appear much brighter.

4.  Blend all over your eye. Most people neglect to apply concealer all over the eye area, from the ocular bone to the inner corner of the eye. This is essential in maximizing the coverage of dark eyes.

5.  Apply your foundation after concealing. Make sure you apply translucent powder underneath your eye so you don’t darken the area you just lightened.

Makeup Tips When Wearing Glasses

Fun styles of glasses are very trendy right now.  But, it can be spoiled if you don’t apply your eye makeup correctly to accent the look.

Here are my top six tips on how to wear makeup with glasses.

How to Wear Makeup with Glasses Teresa Song California Makeup Artist
1.  Use a deep color eyeliner. Pick colors such as navy or plum, instead of black eyeliner. These colors will help brighten your eyes. You could even add a little bit of sparkle. These colors are bold enough while giving you a trendy look.

2.  Use more neutral eye shadow colors. This will help to keep your eyes from looking heavy in glasses. Your glasses is an added frame to your face, you don’t want to overpower your eye area.

3.  Use concealer! You want brighten up your under eye area, especially when wearing glasses. They can magnify your dark circles and make them more obvious.

4.  Make sure you shape and fill in your eyebrows! Although your glasses make cover your eyebrows, you still want to fill them in because they will frame your glasses, as well as your face.

5.  Try a bold eyeliner. Eyeliners are great because they can change the shape of your eye, especially a bold cat eye. Keep the intensity near the lash line, this will help your eyes stand out within your glasses. This is especially fun when one is wearing frameless glasses.

6.  Go for a bold lip! Balance is key here. If you wearing a pair of statement glasses, play it up with a bold lip color.

How to Flawlessly Apply Beauty Products

I have come up with a list of beauty products that everyone should use daily along with the tips on how to flawless apply the products.

Tips for Flawlessly Apply Beauty Products

Here are some tips on how to use each of the following products correctly:

1. Remove your eye makeup using gentle downward motions. This helps keep your lashes intact and is more gentle around your eyes. Rubbing your eyes from side to side can cause pre-mature wrinkles.

2.  Apply moisturizer starting from the center of your face and moving outward. Use upward and outward and outward circular motions. You want to avoid pulling your skin down, it can contribute to sagging over time.

3.  Apply your foundation from the center of your face and blend outwards. Applying your base this way keeps the brightest part of your face, which should be the center of your face, the focus.Apply an extra layer of setting powder on your T-zone. This area tends to be more oily, using more translucent powder in these areas will absorb the excess oil.

4.  When applying mascara on your bottom lashes, hold your mascara wand vertically and slowly coat your lower lashes.  This prevents your mascara want from smearing onto your under eye area when applying mascara horizontally.

5.  Curl your hair with alternating curls; curl your hair inwards and outwards. This creates alternating direction of movement, giving a more natural look.

6. Hold your hairspray at least 6 inches away from your hair before spraying. If you hold your hairspray too close, you will have crunchy hair and you will have stiff hair. Holding your hairspray further away gently mists the strand of your hair.

Tips for Mascara Do’s & Don’ts!

Mascara is one of the main beauty products that most women can’t live without.

We have completed the top 6 Do’s and Don’ts of mascara to help you master the application of mascara.

Does and Don'ts of Mascara
1.  Do apply mascara from the base of your lashes to the tips. Try to wiggle the wand as you apply the mascara from the base to the tips. The wiggling helps separate your lashes to prevent clumping. Make sure you add coats of mascara before each layer dries, this prevents clumping.

2.  Do apply mascara after you apply eyeshadow and eyeliner. Putting on mascara before you apply eye makeup will lead to flaking and smearing.

3.  Do check for smudges after you apply mascara. Sometimes smudges happen. If you happen to get mascara smudges, wait until it dries and gently wipe it off. If the mascara is still wet, then it will smear when you wipe it off.

4. Don’t curl your lashes after applying mascara. Curl your lashes beforehand. Curling your lashes after you apply mascara can pull out your natural lashes and make them look unnaturally bent.

5.  Don’t “pump” your mascara wand. The in and out motion forces air into tube, causing the mascara to dry out quickly. Instead, swirl the mascara wand within the tube to get more product.

6.  Don’t judge the mascara by the price tag. Drugstore makeup can be just as good, if not better.

New Year Makeup Don’ts

Let me be one of the first to say, Happy New Year!

Let’s start 2015 off right with the top makeup don’ts for 2015!

Makeup don't Beauty By Teresa California Makeup Artist

1.  Don’t overdo your eyebrows! Eyebrows that are overly drawn on, overly thin, strongly arched, or too thick can make you look older than what you actually are. Fuller brows makes you look younger, thinner brows makes you look older.

2. Don’t overdo shine and glitter! Too much can look like shine.

3. Don’t over moisturize your eyes! Too much moisturizer causes your concealer and foundation to spread throughout the day.

4. Don’t put on too much lip gloss! Too much lip gloss can cause your lipstick and lip liner to bleed outside your lip line. It will also require you to touch up your lips more frequently.

5. Don’t skip lip color, even if it’s tinted lip balm! Lips can brighten up a face, even with no makeup on.

Tip: smaller lips looks best with bright colors and fuller lips looks best with softer colors.

My mission is to create the perfect look desired by my clients. By utilizing my artistic ability combined with creativity, imagination and training, I will create a flawless look that brings out inner beauty.

How to Get the Perfect Wing Eyeliner

How to get the Perfect Wing Eyeliner Dramatic wing eyeliner is the perfect eye makeup for the holidays. Your outfit is not complete without the makeup to match.

Perfecting the look might be tricky to master however, here are some simple tips to help you create the alluring and sultry look of wing eyeliner.

Dramatic Wing Eyeline Beauty By Teresa California Makeup Artist

1) Apply pencil eyeliner. Start by applying pencil eyeliner to your upper lash line. Try to make the line as thin as possible. Start at the inner corner and with making small strokes complete the line to the outer corner.

2) Measure for perfection. Using your pencil, hold it at the end point of the bottom lash line. Point the pencil at a diagonal upward so it almost looks like a continuation of your lower lash line.

Tip: If you have a hooded eyelid, you will need to angle your wing more outward than upward to help to avoid the hooded part of your lid.

3) Draw your wing. Using the guided line your just visualized with your pencil draw your wing line. I should be about a 45 degree angle and towards your eyebrow. When completed it should look like an extension of your lower lash line.

4) Find the middle of your eye. Draw a straight line from the tip of your wing to the middle of your eyelid.

5) Fill in your line. Using your pencil fill in the line you just created from the line to your eyelashes. Make sure to fill in that entire area.

6) Complete the look. Thicken the line at the inner eyelid to make it appear as though the wing is gradually getting thinner naturally. Fill in with your pencil if needed, again using short strokes.

Your dramatic wing eyeliner is now complete!
